Louisiana Sports Betting

Louisiana sports betting is officially legal in the US. The Creole State recently became the 29th state to allow sports betting within its boundaries. Sports wagering Louisiana started off in early October with a tribal casino in Marksville, LA.

On October 29th, Louisiana Gaming Control Board Chairman Ronnie Johns signed off on four sports betting licenses for commercial use. This allowed for two Caesars properties to open, followed by two Penn National Gaming properties.

As far as Louisiana online sports betting goes, it will take a bit more time. But according to the latest Louisiana sports betting news, we might expect this to happen as early as January 2022.

Louisiana Sportsbooks

Caesars Sportsbook

Caesars Sportsbook was among the first to start accepting in-person bets in the Creole State. However, at this moment an online platform is still in the works. Hopefully, things will resolve quickly as we also expect Caesars to become among the first online sportsbook Louisiana operators.

Without a doubt, this leaves the door open for an interesting welcome bonus for all newly added players that become a part of DraftKings Louisiana 2021.

DraftKings

Since the release of online Louisiana sports betting is getting closer, DraftKings is an operator that has thrown its hat into the ring. In fact, there are rumors that they have a pre-registration bonus that will get all the players on board even before the official launch.

DraftKings will feature an extensive selection of betting markets which will be more than appealing to Louisiana bettors.

PointsBet

PointsBet is another interesting operator that is expected to offer online sports wagering in Louisiana. If we look at the offers available in other states where they live, Louisiana bettors are definitely in for something spectacular.

This goes both for sports betting markets, welcome bonuses, ongoing promos, and PointsBet Free Bet.

WynnBET

Great things are expected from WynnBET and its potential Louisiana betting offer. This operator significantly looks out for its customers and tries to please everyone who joins the platform. When they go live, it will surely include an attractive welcome offer and many interactive site features.

BetMGM

Bettors must not overlook BetMGM and its online sports betting Louisiana offers. With a range of operators coming out with a strong rollout, BetMGM will want to be on the same standard as the other big-named brands. Therefore, a nice BetMGM signup bonus should be in place immediately off the bat. Mobile betting, ongoing promos, a large selection of markets is something that is in the works.

FanDuel

FanDuel is another vital name tied to sports wagering Louisiana. No doubt, Louisiana bettors are going to be ecstatic that they are going to be there. With the way they have been operating in other states, it shows that they are ready to conquer Louisiana next.

Be on the lookout for their welcome promotion as we predict it will be a worthwhile offer.

With 19 commercial casinos currently existing in the state, Louisiana can become one of the largest betting markets in the US. The legislation authorized up to 20 sportsbook licenses, with all of the existing casinos being able to apply for one. Every license can qualify for two online “skins.”

A “skin” is known as a mobile component to the licensed casino operator. It essentially means that each casino can have two online partners. Caesars owns five casinos in the state, which technically means that they can end up having ten different skins. But Caesars will most likely use a single brand that will operate across all casinos.

Louisiana Sports Betting

Consequently, due to the ownership structure in the state, when it is all said and done, we might end up with less than 40 Louisiana sports betting operators. Since only in-house sports betting is available, we expect brands to be added later in 2022 and early 2023, followed by corresponding sports betting apps.

Louisiana Professional Teams

New Orleans Saints (+4000 to win the Super Bowl)

Year two without Drew Brees and year one without Sean Payton; the Big Easy is entering a transitional phase where it may be anything but that.

The Saints still have plenty of integral pieces intact, including Ryan Ramczyk, Cameron Jordan and Marshon Lattimore. However, Terron Armstead was a key culprit that departed in free agency and Marcus Williams. Michael Thomas is still a question mark heading into the 2022 NFL season with a lingering ankle issue. In addition, Alvin Kamara could have a pending suspension on his way after he was arrested and booked for battery resulting in bodily harm back in the Pro Bowl in Las Vegas this past February.

But there are plenty of signs of optimism. The Saints made a handful of additions in free agency, including safeties Marcus Maye and the Honey Badger, Tyrann Mathieu, who will be making a homecoming back to the state, where he attended school right down the street in Baton Rouge. The Saints added much-needed depth at receiver with former LSU standout Jarvis Landry.

The Saints made even more noise in the draft when they elected to move their 2022 first-round selection, a 2022 third-round pick, a 2023 first-rounder, and a 2024 second-round selection for two of the Eagles’ 2022 first-round picks. They again traded up to the no. 11 slot and selected Ohio State standout Chris Olave to round out the WR room. At no. 19, the Saints hopefully found their Armstead replacement in Trevor Penning. Many suspected the Saints would use one of their high selections on a quarterback, but the NOLA brass has decided to stick with Jameis Winston. In his limited play, Winston showed glimpses of competent to solid quarterback play that the Saints will look to build off this upcoming season.

New Orleans Pelicans (+5000 to win the NBA Championship)

The Pelicans are coming off a strong campaign in the 2021-2022 NBA season. Although they were bounced in the first round, the Pels survived the NBA play-in tournament and went on to battle the 1-seeded Phoenix Suns and take them to six games. This was a solid accomplishment considering it was head coach Willie Green’s first year on the job while playing without their best player, Zion Williamson.

Since the end of the season, the Pelicans have locked up Williamson for the foreseeable future while giving their team some extra ammo heading into next year with top 10 selection Dyson Daniels.

The Pelicans saw contributions from several young players last year, including Herb Jones, Jose Alvarado, Jaxson Hayes and Trey Murphy III. The Pelicans’ young foundation will try to build off their 2022 season and get past the first round of the NBA playoffs for the first time since 2018.

Geolocation

Whether you play on desktop or mobile, sports bettors in Louisiana may be familiar with geolocation. If you are on a desktop, you must install a geolocation plug-in to track your location. If you are on mobile, you will need to allow your sportsbook app to track your location while you place wagers.

Being familiar with geolocation software is paramount in Louisiana, where sports betting is banned in certain parishes.

As a sports bettor, you will not be able to circumvent geolocation software by using a VPN. You should not have any issues as long as you are within a permitted area.

To optimize your experience, users should try to stay away from parish and state borders. This is because your geolocation software can be confused about your location, especially if you are moving. To avoid this, ensure you are at least a few miles away from any borders, and your app should not have an issue recognizing where you are.
